Trying to get caught up on my quilting projects - I completely forgot about this block-a-month quilt, and missed a month!  I hate it when I get behind, but I was able to get one month's block done this week.  I have the pattern for two more blocks, and will be caught up - the quilt will have a total of 20 blocks in it, so this is about half of the quilt blocks done now.

My biggest push to catch up needs to be "finishing"!  I have two quilts with all the blocks done that need to be put together and I think I have three quilts that need to be quilted.  Maybe this weekend I can work on some of them....maybe....

The Park Fire has slowed down - 12% contained, - and only grey 10,000 acres yesterday. I grew 40 miles in one day, and then slowed down due to weather conditions.  That 40 miles put it into my area - Shingletown and Manton have evacuation warning.  I'm not that far from there.....

I picked up a couple of new books at Toccoa Falls.  The "Dam Break in Georgia" is the story of the dam break in 1977 that killed 39 people at the bible college at the base of the falls.  Very interesting to read.  The "Runaway Housewives of the Appalachian Trail" is written by someone that is a motivational speaker for a living, and is pretty inspiring.  I may never hike much of the AT, but I always love to find part of the Pacific Crest Trail, and walk a bit on it when I find it.

The heat about took out my garden while I was gone.  The beans gave up, and the cucumbers are considering giving up.  The zucchini looks good, but isn't producing anything.  Even the tomatoes are barely hanging on.  I saw a recent new article (related to the huge Park Fire out of Chico) that Shasta County had 12 days of temps over 110 so far in July - setting a record. No wonder my garden is sad....

I'm going through vacation photos - here are some from the quilt museum.  The work there was just too impressive for words.

This is actually made from wood. It looked so real!

Here are the quilts...and closeup of the quilting.

These are miniature quilts - 12 inches or so square.  The quilting on these is just amazing.

And this is The Hobbit quilt....

My vacation is coming to an end, I left Ronna’s place yesterday and drove to Margene’s.  What was supposed to be a six hour drive turned it to be an eight hour drive due to traffic in the Nashville area.  From just north of Nashville to Chattanooga, it was stop and go traffic, adding 2 hours to my trip.  Very long day.

Ronna has a Mourning Dove nesting on her back porch in her Boston fern.  This is the third clutch this year for it.

Joe gave me a guided tour of the property in his ranch-mobile.  A beautiful property!

Never leave Ronna and I unattended at a fabric store…

Margene and Jordan fed me well this last weekend…steaks for dinner one night, Freddy’s for lunch the next day, and salad with the leftover steak that evening.

We went to Toccoa Falls yesterday, absolutely gorgeous!!  We were expecting a hike to get to the falls, but it was a nice stroll for a few hundred yards.
