And yet another fire - just as the Dixie Fire and Monument Fire were getting under control, we have a new one just north of town - threatening a couple of big subdivisions and a lot of rural homes.  Even worse, they think it was deliberately set and have made an arrest.  We have a bunch of evacuations in place right now, but hopefully the weather will help - yesterday was extra windy, and it's not supposed to be as windy today.  Still hot - 100 degrees today.  This was taken from Hwy 44 out by Palo Cedro - I took the dogs to the vet's yesterday morning.

Resting up from a job well done???

 "Someone" likes soft, squishy squeaker toys.....so they can tear them up....this didn't last a single day.

It's official - I'm now 60!  Luckily I don't feel my age, because that's a very large number!  Cindy came down for the weekend - Susan had a party at her place (her 60th was on the 2nd) so Cindy celebrated with both of us!  I made a tri-tip dinner, with cheesecake for dessert, for my birthday dinner, and Cindy provided the candles.  Very sparkly candles.  Light outside candles.  Have water handy candles.  What with the Dixie fire so close to home, we made sure we had LOTS of water on hand, just in case.  Turns out it wasn't needed - just lots of fire on my cake!

She also had this obnoxiously bright and flashing Happy Birthday sign.  I think I prefer the candles - they at least stop after a while....

I started back to work on my challenge quilt, but it was an uphill battle......for some reason, everyone wanted to help.......

Even Ripley got into the swing of things....

Ripley had actually already "gotten into it" a bit too much.  She managed to chew a hole in my batting when she was left alone too long the other day.  Luckily it works out to be really close to the edge, so with just a bit of trimming, it's all good.

After getting the quilt sandwich together, I worked on my Barn Stars quilt - month #3, and I have months #4 and #5 already....

 

And Tote got his tote this week....Kendra said he didn't know he was supposed to stay in it, but she did get a picture of him for us.....

 

A girl and her dog......Groot and Ripley had fun on the beach!  Ripley had too much fun and had to stay on her lead - she doesn't come back when called yet.  (It was a long jog down the beach to go get her....)
