More vacation pictures! Cindy M and I went up to McCloud Falls (walking Lower to Middle Falls) and the drove up to Burney Falls, stopping at McCloud Upper Falls along the way.

There was a young buck foraging along the river bank on our way back from Middle Falls - still in velvet.

And a doe came up while we were eating lunch.  She visited the next table over - probably hoping for a hand-out.

One other vacation project - my IKEA trip.  I picked up a new office/sewing room chair, and AJ got a display cubicle for his Pokémon collection. The chair was quick to put together, and is ever so much more comfortable than my old chair.  AJ's cubicle took a bit more to put together, but still went together rather quickly.

He now has a serious display for his collection....

And one project almost finished!  Alex and I did two dump runs Saturday before the heat got too much for us, and I loaded the next on Sunday, ready to go next Saturday.

All that is left is some of the bigger items - one more load!

And here were out temps for the weekend - I was lucky to get Alex to do two runs - it is hot!!!

It's very hard not to fill the blog up with kitten pictures - they are both so cute!  Jessie is a little feisty, and James is a little sweetie.

And the newest addition - she is from Haven Humane.

Together, they are Jessie (the black kitten) and James (the white kitten).

Look what followed me home from IKEA! Well, actually it was a sidetrip after we went to IKEA. Cindy M‘s daughter had a litter of kittens and I just happen to be looking for a little black kitten, so after visiting IKEA yesterday we drove over to her daughters place outside of Cool and brought home a kitten. No name for her yet, though her kids named her Shadow.

It’s official, vacation has started! And as usual it’s a staycation complete with chores around the house. My first chore… Getting rid of the junk we pulled out of the sheds including the riding lawnmower that was parked there 20 years ago and not moved since. So far, we got the riding lawnmower removed. The pile of junk is still waiting for Alex and I to move because the company that came and hauled the lawnmower away wanted more to haul it than I wanted to pay to have it hauled.

This is what’s left to haul away….

It's official - the AC is dead in the guest house...I started a repair though AHS - my home warranty company - the first part of May, when it first started warming up.  Two months and $600.00 later, the contractor on the job ghosted me and AHS, so they had to assign a new contractor.  Part of the $600.00 was for Freon, because my warranty doesn't cover the replacement costs for Freon, so I paid to have a leak fixed and re-filled with Freon, and...it still didn't work.  When the original contractors turned it on after "fixing" the leak, the compressor blew.  He left, saying he was calling AHS and they would get back to me......and then didn't return phone calls.

Skip forward through the required time needed for AHS to try to contact him, and they sent me a new contractor - after waiting another two weeks to get on their schedule.  When the new contractor showed up, we discovered that the first contractor had not put the unit back together - all the wiring was off the unit.....  Why???  Needless to say, the new contractor refused to "rebuild" the unit - not only is it old, it probably still has a leak, the compressed is probably dead, and the wiring is gone.....they are done, so....in a couple of months I'll have a brand new AC....at my cost of $4,000 (AHS is picking up the rest - the last quote I got was for $12,000).  For the interim, I bought a portable AC unit (another $500) so I can continue to work....it did a pretty good job when we were 107, so....it's a temporary fix at least, and an expensive summer.
