There were three.....

And then there were two....We had one of the sycamore trees removed last week.  It caught a virus, and we had been nursing it along - giving it vitamin shots in the spring, but it just wasn't getting better.  Not only were most of the big branches dead, it kept putting leaves on, and then loosing them - making my annual leaf clean-up a weekly clean-up.  Now I have a big pile of wood chips in that spot, and no idea what to do with the empty space....

I need to take more "before" pictures - I spent Sunday cleaning up the yard, and part of that project was the rose garden.  It got tidied up, and new bark.  I really wish I had remembered to take pictures before I started!

So - I took "before" pictures of my project - cleaning up the garden.....next weekend...

I took Leona out for her first Kayaking trip last night after work.  And of, course, she loved it!  What's not to love?   We put in at Whiskey Creek, and paddled toward the bridge, and then found a sandy beach to take a swim, have some cheese and crackers and chat a bit.  It was a beautiful evening on the lake.

The Carr Fire burned down to the lake, and my selfie needed to show the dead trees - you don't really see the devastation in the other photos.

When we were hauling the kayaks out, there was a family of ducks hanging out by the docks.  The light was pretty much gone at that point, so these aren't the best photos.

I actually finished a crochet project!  I think this is the only crochet project I've finished this year, which is quite sad....

Alex has been bugging me for a long time to watch The Princess Bride with him - a movie that is one of his favorites, and one I always wanted to watch, but never made myself sit down and watch when it was on.  Now, thanks to Netflix and Disney+, I can watch it whenever I want, which usually means I still don't sit down and watch anything...

Unfortunately, the day we watched it was a bad day for Alli - it took us all afternoon/early evening to watch the movie.  Poor Alli was having a tough day, with lots of meltdowns.  We finished watching it after she went to bed - early because she was exhausted (meltdowns are very tiring - for both of us!)  All in all, a good movie though!  What does The Princess Bride have to do with my first crochet project?  I started this bag while watching the movie....and finished it yesterday while watching the Giants lose to the Dodgers.

We got a new addition to the office on Friday - Plexiglas shields dividing the desks.  I admit that they look better than I thought they would, and if they enable us to 'get back to work', I'm all for them, but....it's kind of sad, too.  I only go in once a week now, but it will be nice to be able to go back full time and not be too concerned about catching/spreading COVID.  Going to the office 'full time' would mean less hours I work, too!  Having the laptop at home expands my work day to an easy 10-11 hours....when I actually 'go to the office', I only work 9-10 hours!
