And one quilt top done!  This was a panel I saw in a quilting magazine, complete with a line of coordinating fabric - the "After Five" collection.  I think it turned out really cute, and is going to a friend that is active in the wine community here.  I did get the quilt sandwiched - with a little help.....not!

 

I very carefully put protection around the plants in the garden by strategically putting tomato cages around the plants……and Ripley dig between the cages….sigh….  That’s still better than Luna, yesterday she broke through the fence and killed two of the neighbors chickens….

See how helpful Jessie was when I was replacing cabinets?  I couldn't have done it without her!

I tore out what was left of my summer garden - it was NOT a good year for it - and planted a winter garden.  This summer was just too hot - you can put all the water you want in the ground, but too many days of 115 degrees heat and the leaves just fry, tomatoes don't set, peppers don't grow....I think I lost several plants/shrubs in the yard this year as well.  We'll see what comes back this spring.  After I got the raised beds all pretty - ground broken up, fertilizer added, smoothed back out, ready to plant, I went back to take a picture.....

And my "helper" was helping again.....

Here's what I planted - peas, lettuces, and spinach.  

If it fits, I sit.....that will teach me to leave an open box on the counter.....

 

I finally totally finished the quilt from my quilt club from 2021!  I had it put together and quilted in January, but just didn't sit down and add the binding to it - my least favorite part of quilting - especially in the summer.  Nothing like having a huge quilt in your lap when it's 110 degrees outside!  With the cooler weather, I was a bit more motivated to get it done.  

I swear, I can't win for losing on my "construction" jobs!  I try to do something simple, like install a light, and even that has problems!  My brand new light fixture came with a friend.....and no good way to get it out - it's a sealed unit (a couple of little holes, but that's it.)

Jessie really wants to catch that bug too....

 

I finished a quilt top this weekend. This could almost be called a cheater quilt, since it uses preprinted panels for part of it. I like how it turned out, and I already have someone in mind to give it to, once I get it quilted.

I managed to install two medicine cabinets in my bath as well, but that didn't go as planned.  The first was just a tiny bit too big, so I cut the drywall out for it - possible because the original wasn't framed correctly - and I didn't know that because it was the first time I'd seen one on the inside!  When I went to put the second one in, I found out how the first one should have been framed, and there was no way to adjust the size.   Back to the drawing board and after a lot of searching, I found one that "should" fit - but only one...sigh..... here’s the mismatched cabinets…

I ordered it, picked it up, and installed it easily!!  But...it is different enough from the other that I really need to replace both.  I did find one other in Red Bluff, so I ordered it, and....they couldn't find it in the store.  It took them a couple of days, but they finally found it!  I had to patch the drywall where I had cut it for the slightly larger cabinet, but they are both in now!  I had a little help again when I was installing….
