Alex is home!  He was gone almost a year in Japan, and I'm very glad he is home.  Really, he's been gone for a couple of years, since he lived in Chico full time his last year there - just home for a few weeks last summer.  

I got another cool yarn in yesterday - pretty!!!

I had a visitor in my tomatoes.  Since he isn't very big, I'll assume I don't have a lot of bugs in the garden......

I got some major work on my quilt done this weekend - but not a lot our house/yard work, funny how that works!  I got the last of the applique done on the quilt!  Woohoo!  (Did I mention I hate applique???)  The rest of it is "just" piecing.  I say "just" piecing, because I cut out over 400 2X2 inch squares for the next border.  The border after that is all the applique blocks I've done, followed by another border of 3 1/2 by 3 1/2 inch squares......

I took a break from sewing after cutting said squares, and picked up my crochet hook.  One scarf done!!!

Bookclub is tomorrow - and here are the bookmarks.  The book is "Room - a Novel" by Emma Donoghue.  I really liked the book, but couldn't figure out a bookmark from it, so....lacy bookmarks it is!

The room is (pretty much) done!  I still want to put up crown mouldling, and do 'something' with the closet doors, but.....otherwise, it's done!  I really like it - though I wish we had actually measured things - it's a little tight in spots....that's what you get for impulse shopping!  

Alli's first day back to school - just waiting for the bus.....

AJ's host mom sent some picture from their vacation.  AJ said it was a 10 hour drive, and then 7 hours at the beach.....

The Carr fire is less than 50% contained, and we still have horrible air quality.  This was the sunset last night.....

My quilt is finally finished!  This one is a wedding present for Kolby  - and I'm less that two months late!  (He got married June 1st).  I took this, and the Simple Things quilt down to Kirby yesterday - Alli and I made a quick day trip.  She was a trooper the whole day!  Two wedding presents done!  (Of course. Jeff and Kirby got married almost 4 years ago, but....who's counting, right??)  I absolutely love this quilt - the blocks were fun to make, and I love the quilting that was done - the border quilting is adorable!!!

Not totally true, but Alli had the most adorable curl yesterday morning.....

More camping photos!  I haven't really cared about sharing photos of fun things lately - too much sadness from the Carr fire.....but I think it's time for me to move forward.  Everyone is very unsettled about it - even at work......We are safe, and unharmed by the fire.  Many people lost their homes, and it is wonderful to see all the things people are doing to help out.
