Margene brought down a bag of home-grown peaches on Wednesday, so....last night, I made a peach cobbler!  This, and ice cream are happening at work today - long live Friday!!!

I'm beginning to feel like I'm on a roll - I had a landscaper stop by yesterday and he is working up some plans to re-landscape my yard, I have a tile guy coming by next week to take a look at my kitchen counters to re-grout them, I've handled some stuff on Mom's estate, and, and, and....Not too bad!  I'm still looking for a contractor for Mom's place - so far everyone I've called can't work on it.  I do have another lead to follow up on, so I hope it works out.  Now to keep the momentum going.......

Bookmarks for book club this month were butterflies  - pretty, but had no connection to the book Pecan Man.

I made a flying trip up to Susanville yesterday - contractor in tow.  Chris Fisher graciously offered to go up with me to check out the condition of the house (he also checked out the roofing contractor to make sure he knew what he was doing).  Dave had said that we have black mold in the bathroom from a leak around the tub.  Luckily, it isn't black mold - it just needs to be cleaned up, bleached, repainted, etc.  I also met with a real estate agent and the roofing contractor.  The agent gave me an idea of the value of the property and things that may need to be fixed before we put it on the market.  One big step forward.  The roof repair will start in a couple of weeks, and I have a laundry list of things to get done around the house.  Some I can do (declutter the rooms so they look bigger, less like Mom) and others I will be hiring out - painting and hauling off crap. Not as much as I thought there would be, but more than I hoped.

I made a walk through Mom's flower garden - it seriously needs to be weeded!  I also brought home a large load of pretty rocks.  Dave will be downsizing his rock collection, so he donated a few to me (and one to Chris - I'm amazed that he only got one....)

Here is another picture of the quilt that I'm working on - this is up on the wall at the quilt store.

One of the heirloom tomato plants I got at Turtle Bay is Aunt Ruby's Green Tomato.  It is HUGE!  I missed the part about them being "green' tomatoes and was waiting for them to ripen.....The big one was a little over-ripe when I picked it yesterday.

I cut it up and served it with fresh mozzarella cheese and fresh basil from the garden - drizzled with homemade balsamic vinegar last night.  Margene's boyfriend Dean (from Minnesota I think!) is visiting for the summer, along with his daughter.  We had them down for dinner last night - grilled chicken, potato salad, corn on the cob, fresh fruit, the before-mentioned tomato, and.....fresh blackberry pie and homemade ice cream!  Ralph picked enough blackberries on his morning walk with Luna to make a pie.  Yum!!!  Then we played a 3-handed game of crib - fun evening!

Sunset the other evening:
