I started something new....I enrolled in a 'yarn of the month' club. I'm not quite sure why, but, I can cancel at any time, and I just might find some new yarns I like!  I got my first yarn last week - Roving Silk Yarn.  Definitely  not something I would have picked up!  I started a scarf out of it - and changed to a different pattern, but still a scarf.  The club sent a pattern with the yarn, but the pattern was for baskets for air plants.  Cute, but not something I really wanted to make.  I'll post a photo of the scarf when I'm done.

I was on my in to town to meet Meredith for lunch on Thursday, and I sent her a quick text telling her I might be late - the traffic was at a standstill on I-5.  Eventually, I got up to the problem......

Okay - I forgot to post, so had several posts to do at once - I did break them up into 4 posts so it wasn't one loooong post though.....

More camping pictures - Margene caught a couple of trout for dinner - the fish didn't seem to be biting.  The waters are very high and fast.  I didn't see anyone pulling a lot of fish out - just two people with one fish.  Margene managed to get two!

Some Hat Creek pictures:

Margene getting ready to fish.

My favorite rock - the first time I found it it was a long way away from the water, but this year, it was surrounded.....

Chipmunks proved elusive at first for photos - I sat in camp trying to catch one with the camera, but they didn't want to play the first day.  Later, I found one on one of my walks

And then they just wandered in to camp.....

Margene and I took a couple of days off and went camping up at Hat Creek.  She went fishing, and I sat around and read a book, took pictures, wandered around - my idea of camping!!!  Ralph came up Tuesday morning, and we walked over to the Subway Caves and wondered through.

The view from the exit

A lizard - I've never seen one quite so black before - good camo for the cave area....

Even a butterfly.....

We went up to Hat Creek right after a storm came through.  It was a bit cold camping (like a lot cold!  the temp outside driving up was down to 34 degrees in places), but Lassen got a few inches of new snow.

I also wandered along Hat Creek while Margene was catching dinner, and took a few flower photos.

I had the opportunity to babysit Nicholas the other night - and it's been a while!  I watched him here at the house one afternoon, but even that was a while ago.  I did remember one 'grandma' rule....I took him a new toy to distract him.  It seems to have worked - we had a nice, fun evening.

We spent quite a bit of time outside - and inside - and outside - and inside - and outside.......things that as a mom, you just don't want to encourage, but as a stand-in Grandma, no problem!  I can let you in - and out - and in - and out - as much as you like!  The only rule was that he had to ask.....(low verbal skills for his age, though he's catching up quickly!)

Malorie, bless her heart, obviously worried about me.  She left me sticky notes everywhere - several for feeding....maybe it was Nicholas she was worried about?

One for where the cups were....(really?  It's a kitchen, I could probably have found them.....)

I just had to show off my 'babies'....even the adopted one.  This is Chewie, who gets to spend time with us when Margene is out of town....

My house-cleaner, Randa, took this picture and sent it to me at work to show me her welcoming committee one day.  Of course, she always brings them treats, so they are always happy to see her! (See how nicely they sit.....)

She sent me this picture the same day - to show me Luna sitting in the chair, watching the street.  She's our local 'neighborhood watch dog'.
